Director of Operations

Job Description Summary

The Director of Operations (single site Plant Manager) is accountable for overseeing and providing strategic guidance to operations Leaders.

This role is responsible for all aspects of site operations, including Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain.

Additionally, the Director of Operations collaborates with Finance, Quality, Human Resources, and Environmental Health and Safety teams.

Key responsibilities include developing and adhering to the annual production budget, participating in new product development and planning, and actively participating in organizational meetings.

Furthermore, the Director of Operations ensures the supervision of all direct and indirect reports aligns with the best interests of all associates while fostering and maintaining positive relationships with them.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Continuously enhance Employee Safety systems, identify and resolve issues, and strive for a Zero mindset regarding employee injuries.
  • Ensure Food Safety and Quality systems are in place and consistently exceed customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team to identify capacity constraints, ensuring the ability to deliver excellent customer service with a 98.

5% level of performance each month.

  • Implement the company's Performance Systems, employing a Lean approach to Manufacturing and facilitating proactive communication across all organizational levels.
  • Apply the performance system approach to lead by example on the floor and calibrate teams on performance in their respective work areas.
  • Achieve annual cost savings of 3-5% by identifying and executing projects to enhance OEE, reduce product waste, eliminate unnecessary costs, and more.
  • Create and drive annual business plans for People, Safety, Quality, Service, and Costs.
  • Lead the Plant teams, ensuring clear goals, objectives, and performance expectations are set for all members, while regularly calibrating the team based on results.
  • Monitor daily operation schedules for all departments to ensure accuracy and the realization of daily operational goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the organization by participating in cross-functional meetings and analyzing sales trends and cost performance data.
  • Create a 3-5 year strategic plan for the facility that ensures adequate supply, addresses infrastructure needs, and supports the organization's growth strategy.
  • Enhance facility stewardship and asset maintenance.
  • Participate in new product development and planning by researching the feasibility and cost of producing new products.
  • Lead the implementation of new product initiatives for the facility.
  • Adhere to the approved operations annual budget and provide budget updates and adjustments to the Vice President as required.

Minimum Job Requirements :

Education / Certifications :

Bachelors degree required; preference for degrees in Engineering and Food Science.

Experience :

  • Minimum of ten years experience in a production facility, with a minimum of three years as a Plant Manager.
  • Prefer experience in the food industry.
