THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is partnered with a leading Canadian precious metals company headquartered in Vancouver, BC as the look to hire a Senior Accountant to the team.

The client is publicly listed with operating sites in Central America. As the Senior Financial Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in the Finance team.

The Senior Accountant's responsibilities will include preparing financial statements, consolidated financial reporting, internal controls (SOX compliance), and other ad-hoc duties.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid public company reporting experience looking to step out of public practice and into industry!

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly corporate office financial close, including reconciliations and review of accounts payable activities.
  • Review regional reporting package and prepare corporate consolidation adjustments for operating and non-operating subsidiaries.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliation of investment and loan facilities, and prepare required elimination entries.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal monthly financial reports and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare supporting notes, schedules, and reconciliations for quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors for compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Sec 404 (SOX) and maintain positive auditor relationships.
  • Mentor junior accounting staff.
  • Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Workiva software.

Qualifications

  • Ideally, CPA designated or due to receive letters in the coming months.
  • Experience in public practice with exposure to mining, or relevant industry experience.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and familiarity with the Canadian tax and regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency in IFRS and experience with documentation of ICFR in compliance with SOX.
  • Experience with consolidation for international organizations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel functions.
  • Spanish language skills (desired but not required).
