Our Programs and supports are designed to build new skills, to foster healthy, productive lifestyles and to improve access to services within our community. Services are low-barrier, all-inclusive and at no cost to participants. Annually, we provide services to over 2500 individuals and families.
The Opportunity
Foundry is removing barriers and increasing access to health and wellness services for young people aged 1224 and their families through a network of youth-friendly centers across British Columbia and online. By offering integrated mental health care, substance use services, primary and sexual health care, youth and family peer support and social services. Foundry makes it easier for young people to find support in their communities. Online resources and first-of-its-kind virtual care further broaden Foundrys reach.
Reporting to the Foundry Langley Medical Director the Family Physician, along with the primary care team, provides episodic, enhanced and longitudinal services. They must be able, or willing to train, to support gender-affirming care, opioid agonist therapy and contraceptive support. Interventions may be provided on a 1 : 1 basis, to families, on outreach and to group. Flexibility in hours and availability outside of typical office hours will be required to support drop-in hours and potential outreach.

SALARY RANGE : In accordance with the Ministry of Health negotiated clinical service contract.

Key Duties and Responsibilities :
Monitors ongoing care, orders appropriate screening diagnostic investigations; interprets reports of investigations and analyzes information to monitor progress and plan treatment
May participate in research contributing to improved patient care and advances in primary care, health policy development and population health.
Maintains youth population health focus (ages 12 24) by implementing screening and health promotion activities for youth populations at risk.
May participate in interdisciplinary Foundry Langley staff education through case presentations, mentoring, role modeling and facilitating the exchange of knowledge; fosters health care partnerships.
Develops, implements and evaluates policies and procedures related to primary care, interdisciplinary care, and health system practices.
Performs other duties as required / assigned.
Qualifications :
1. Education and Knowledge
A medical degree and eligibility for licensure, in good standing, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
2. Training and Experience
Eligibility for a faculty appointment with University of British Columbias Faculty of Medicine is an asset.
Enthusiasm for and experience working with young adults and adolescents is required.
3. Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the following areas :
The unique ethical, legal and confidentiality issues in caring for young people; and
Hospital and community resources for young people.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to help others to use the same analytical thought processes; and
Providing patient-centered care by :
empowering and advocating for patients and their decisions and choices, and
incorporating patients values, beliefs and cultural practices in care plans and service deliver.
Effective listening and consensus-building skills that promote communication and a cooperative approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Ability to work effectively with others in a multicultural environment, independently and as part of a team, including understanding the frameworks of other disciplines.
