Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Social Media Specialist is responsible for creating and publishing content on our social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

The objective is to grow our audience, build brand awareness and ultimately boost sales. The Social Media Specialist role also includes video editing supporting makita.

ca and the Makita Canada YouTube account. This individual will create monthly launch campaigns, support digital marketing iniatives, and collaborate with internal e-commerce partners to deliver our digital marketing objectives.

This position is based in Makita Canada's Head Office in Whitby, Ontario.

What will you work on?

  • Participate in creating our multichannel digital marketing strategy and drive its execution.
  • Plan, implement and manage all digital marketing campaigns from start to finish.
  • Develop and implement email marketing campaigns to end-users and dealers frequently.
  • Create infographics, images, videos and marketing content for social media, search, and other digital marketing campaigns using Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Manage and maintain Makita Canada’s search and social media accounts (e.g., Google, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Facebook) and marketing automation tools.
  • Monitor customer reviews and social media posts across all platforms, engage with end-users, and liaise internally to respond to questions in a professional and timely manner.
  • Manage, moderate, and serve as the super administrator for Makita Canada’s community groups. Coordinate with channel administrators to respond to user questions.
  • Stay up to date with trends and changes in digital marketing (SEO, SEM, PPC, Google algorithm changes, etc.) and major search engines.
  • Manage and be the single point of contact for Makita Canada’s Influencer network.
  • Become an expert in the Makita product portfolio, markets, and competition.
  • Other related duties as may be required.

To be successful you will have :

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-year post-secondary diploma.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in professional social media specialist role.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Media Encoder.)
  • Experience in managing social media and content-sharing platforms Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Experience in creating and managing PPC campaigns (display ads, social media ads.)
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics and HubSpot (HubSpot certification is an asset but not mandatory.)
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices.

What you bring to the team?

  • Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills.
  • Understanding of CASL (Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation.)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English (Bilingual is an asset but not mandatory.)
  • Highly motivated with a passion for social media trends and engagement.
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be productive with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent vision for video editing and photography concepts.
  • $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
