The Adjuvant Student will assist the Therapy Services team in delivering person-centered care and therapeutic programs to residents in a long-term care setting. This role supports the implementation of restorative care including Therapeutic Dining Program, mobility programs, and therapeutic activities under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapist, and Physiotherapists.
As a Student Adjuvant, you will:
- Develop and implement client activation programs
- Carry out individual therapeutic programs as per the direction of the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist
- Participate in care planning, evaluation and documentation
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as may be required
The successful applicant will possess:
- Proof of enrolment in a post-secondary program in Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, or Occupational Therapy and/or Physiotherapy Assistant and must be returning to their studies in Fall 2026
- Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with safe work practices
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions
- Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job
- A demonstrated ability to provide high-quality service with consideration for equity and accessibility
Hourly Rate:
- The current hourly rate for this position is $24.04
Hours of Work:
Shifts typically range from approximately 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Schedules are prepared based on operational needs of the home; we do not schedule based on your availability or around another work schedule. You must also maintain reasonable availability to pick up extra shifts, over and above the posted schedule, to allow the home to meet operational needs and provide short-notice coverage.
