Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of the City’s environmental infrastructure and systems including water supply, treatment, and distribution; wastewater collection and treatment; and the design and construction of the City's infrastructure including treatment plants, pump stations, roads, sewers, watermains, sidewalks, stormwater management ponds, water towers and reservoirs, etc. The Corporation of the City of Barrie has a work placement opportunity within the Infrastructure Department for an advanced Civil Engineering Technology or Technician student to assist in various aspects related to the inspection of municipal infrastructure projects. The successful applicant to this position will perform and / or assist with the following :
Assist in the inspection of municipal infrastructure installations, including concrete and asphalt maintenance, watermains, sewers, roads, and other municipal infrastructure to ensure that they are built in accordance with the designated specifications.
Maintain records which document quality control issues, and quantity measurements.
Assist in gathering information for and preparing daily reports.
Communication with contractor, residents, and businesses.
Distribution of notices.
Be able to work independently as well as a team player.
