Who we need :

We are hiring a Director of Engineering to plan, direct, and lead a geographically dispersed team of 8 direct reports and 60 technical professionals based in Toronto, New York, and India.

As the new Director of Engineering, you will guide the team's critical day-to-day and overarching objectives and undertake the leadership of restructuring and optimizing systems.

Your primary focus will be establishing a robust engineering team across multiple facilities and continents, capable of accommodating business growth while driving down costs without compromising quality.

As the Director of Engineering, you will play a key role in delivering value and driving success for the company, its employees and our end customers.

You will :

Lead, develop and mentor all direct reports. You will conduct performance management reviews, implement development plans, and establish goals and objectives for each team member.

You will develop the team's collective capabilities with a focus on strengthening engineering talent within Array to develop future leaders.

  • Work collaboratively across teams. Working directly with the Creative Design Department, Project Managers, Manufacturing Engineering, and the Production Teams, you will establish expectations and deliverables on assigned projects, manage the overall schedule of deliverables for the entire team and direct and oversee all phases of engineering development.
  • Nurture a growth mindset.You will foster a culture of innovative thinking and creative exploration, balanced with a commitment to practicality and delivering solutions that align with the project's objectives.
  • Develop a long-term strategic and visionary direction for the engineering department. You will implement initiatives aimed at enhancing the cost-effectiveness of engineering operations while upholding quality standards.

This includes implementing software and systems to strengthen and enhance output and process improvement strategies that benefit the team’s efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Prioritize continuous improvement. You will interact with other departments to ensure client deadlines are met and make recommendations to improve process methods, team performance, and the quality of work.
  • Uphold company policies and enforce safety regulations. This includes ensuring 5S standards for the department are being met, and corrective actions are identified;

all work is conducted per the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations and the health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and policies of Array Canada.

You have :

Technical knowledge. You have a Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or similar background and well-grounded experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite.

You have a background in manufacturing engineering, preferably in plastics, metal and wood. You know how to effectively navigate, search, and input project data within a PMO application.

You can solve practical problems and deal with variables where only limited standardization exists. You can interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.

You are metrics-driven with strong analytical skills and can work with statistics to conduct root cause analysis to assess short-term and long-term production and operational impact.

Leadership skills. You can build and nurture internal and external relationships across any level of an organization. You can gain trust and influence decisions, defending your choices.

You are insightful, work proactively without needing details spelled out, and are easily able to direct others. You are confident and collaborative, have professional communication skills, and can translate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience, demonstrating business value and impact.

You are comfortable facilitating meetings, proposing ideas, and presenting to senior managers in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Project management experience. You have experience working on multiple simultaneous projects of moderate to high complexity.

You can confidently lead the technical design, planning, and execution and have excellent organizational skills in a demanding environment.

Flexibility. You have a valid passport and are willing and able to travel intermittently both domestically and internationally.
