Cell Test Engineer – North America Battery Test Lab
We are seeking experienced Cell Test Engineers to perform battery cell level performance testing to support our Electric Vehicle portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Develop work procedures for all standard cell testing activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Create and maintain test scripts and report templates for cell testing.
- Commission new cell testing equipment and support its full operation.
- Execute and analyze cell tests to produce high‑quality data in an efficient manner.
- Prepare, set up, and run cell tests with lab technicians, handling cells before and after testing.
- Prepare formal test reports at completion and intermediate reports to test requestors.
- Support safety training and compliance during lab launch and full operation.
- Work with automation and data engineers on verification, data processing, analysis, and visualization.
- Participate in root‑cause analysis and issue resolution during testing.
- Attend cell and module engineering meetings and support meeting assignments.
- Escalate issues to management as needed and keep training records up to date.
Requirements
B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering and testing experience.Knowledge of lithium‑ion battery chemistry, principles, characterization, and performance.Practical skills with common laboratory tools and instruments.Experience setting up, maintaining, and monitoring tests according to procedures.Proficiency in large‑scale test data processing, analysis, and visualization.Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.Strong time‑management skills and ability to meet deadlines.Legally eligible to work in Canada.Preferred Qualifications
M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.Experience in lithium‑ion battery R&D, engineering, and manufacturing.Up‑to‑date knowledge of lithium‑ion battery technology.Experience with lithium‑ion battery testing and cell test methods (e.g., USABC manuals).Experience with battery cyclers, data acquisition systems, and EIS measurement.Experience executing DVP&R test plans.Ability to work in a unionized environment.Familiarity with ISO 17025 or ISO 9001 accreditation.Additional Information / Must Haves
Highly detail‑oriented with excellent documentation skills.Technically sound in electrical engineering and battery concepts.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Experience with testing equipment and battery testing procedures.Minimum 2 years of battery testing experience (typical).Full‑time onsite at Automotive Research & Development Centre (ARDC).No vehicle driving required; travel limited to the testing lab.Seniority Level
