The Role
We’re seeking a Editorial Manager – AI Software Documentation to lead editorial strategy for software documentation and ensure consistent, high‑quality content across developer‑facing materials. This hybrid role (Editorial manager, Individual Contributor) combines leadership with hands‑on writing and editing in an Agile software development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and enforce editorial standards, style guides, and templates for AI Software Documentation.
- Oversee planning, reviews, and publishing aligned with Agile development sprints and product release cycles.
- Lead and mentor a small team of technical writers / editors; manage priorities and workflows.
- Contribute as an individual contributor by authoring and editing critical software documentation (API references, SDK guides, tutorials, release notes).
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and UX teams to ensure technical accuracy and clarity.
- Maintain docs‑as‑code workflows (Git / GitHub), markup standards (Markdown / ReST / HTML), and publishing pipelines.
- Monitor documentation quality and engagement metrics; drive continuous improvement.
Preferred Experience
Extensive experience in technical writing or editorial roles, with background in software documentation.Strong leadership experience, including editorial management.In depth knowledge of docs‑as‑code practices, Git workflows, and structured authoring.Hands‑on experience in high‑velocity Agile workflows (Scrum or Kanban) and collaboration.Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.Familiarity with accessibility and localization best practices.Experience with CI / CD pipelines for documentation publishing.Knowledge of API documentation tools (e.g., Swagger / OpenAPI).Familiarity with content analytics and SEO for technical documentation.Understanding of cloud platforms and developer ecosystems.Ability to manage localization workflows and multi‑language documentation.Strong problem‑solving skills and adaptability in fast‑paced environments.Proven ability to design and implement new documentation processes, including :
Governance frameworks for editorial workflows.Scalable templates and information architecture.Automation and tooling improvements for docs‑as‑code pipelines.Driving process adoption across cross‑functional teams.Academic Credentials
BA or BS or equivalent degree in related discipline.Certificate in Technical writing is a plus.Location
