Summary :
Primary Job Location : Candidates must be currently located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada area.
Additional Location(s) : Candidates must be currently located in the Atlanta, Georgia, or Chicago, Illinois area.
Travel Requirements : Up to 25% travel and requires a minimum of 3 days per week in the office (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).

This role works closely with several cross-functional groups and proactively leverages their scientific and regulatory expertise to influence new product innovation for key brands. The role will enable business growth (innovation, acquisitions) by bringing solutions to address regulatory and policy risks. The successful candidate should be passionate about always seeking synergies and demonstrate their ability to drive efficiencies in Scientific and Regulatory Affairs (SRA)-related compliance processes.
Required Experience :
5+ years in the beverage or food industry, specifically in scientific and regulatory affairs or related roles. This includes managing regulatory issues related to products, ingredients, and labeling within the food industry, government, or comparable sectors.
A bachelor's degree in food science, nutrition, or a related field is mandatory. A master’s degree is a plus.
Comprehensive understanding of current food regulations in Canada and the US , with expertise in product communication from a regulatory perspective, spanning from initial product development to final product launch.

Leverage your scientific and regulatory expertise to enable business growth (innovation, acquisitions) by collaborating on solutions to address regulatory and policy risks to grow and expand our current and new beverage categories, which will influence the new product pipeline, mergers & acquisition opportunities, and develop solutions to minimize regulatory barriers.
Enable growth as a Scientific and Regulatory Affairs (SRA) business partner for innovation projects, represent SRA function in charters, and act as SRA interface with innovation teams.
Interpret regulations and science to ensure claims are supported within governmental regulations.
Guide development of a risk assessment and guidance strategy for the SRA function that enables growth and ensures stewardship of our brands and company.
Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure a science-based perspective, developing scientific and regulatory enabling strategies, which create an environment for the beverage industry that provides flexibility and standards for product expansion.
Proactively stay on top of key scientific and regulatory trends that can unlock growth opportunities for our business in the product, ingredient, or communications space.
Manage ingredient, product, packaging, claims, and communication regulatory compliance approvals.
Manage and support the execution of strategies and communications on topics related to regulatory, and nutrition to unlock growth opportunities, while mitigating risk.
Translate complex regulatory, scientific, and nutritional information into simple, easy-to-understand facts for consumers and other internal and external stakeholders.
Keep abreast of emerging trends and developments in policies, regulations, and nutrition science that could impact our business.
Protect The Coca-Cola Company's trade secrets, internally and externally.
Actively participate in relevant industry and scientific organizations to advocate for company positions and establish strategic relationships and networks with key stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements
A bachelor's degree in food science, nutrition, or a related field is mandatory. A master’s degree is a plus.
5+ years of work experience in the beverage or food industry in scientific and regulatory affairs or relevant related fields in the food industry, government, or related industry in similar roles managing regulatory issues impacting products, ingredients, and labeling.
Demonstrate knowledge of the regulatory and political landscape (e.g., regulations, issues) affecting food and beverages. It also includes the ability to manage complex regulatory issues affecting products, ingredients, packages, or claims.
Experience in international food standard-setting processes and reviewing and analyzing proposed standards.
Understanding of the key issues and the relevant regulatory and scientific proof points to support regulatory advocacy by developing positions to support innovation of ingredients, products, or labeling.
Advanced understanding of the nature, properties, effects, and detection of toxic substances in food, and their disease manifestation particularly chemicals of food interest such as food additives and pesticides, and how they are tested and regulated.
Understanding the technological need for food additives and typical contaminants found in foods and their regulatory principles defining the permissibility and limitations of use.
Understanding of key trade associations and global regulatory policy landscape affecting the food and beverage industry.
Be available in the office in person on a regular basis.
