Role : Engineering Manager
Job Location : London, ON
Job Type : Full-time, permanent
Compensation Structure : 115k 125k per annum + 15% bonus opportunity
Job Summary : Plan and manage the effective use of capital, drive continuous improvement in both process and maintenance activities in the plant, and support Program Management to successfully launch quality new products on time within budget.
Responsibilities :
- Utilize a management style that supports and develops our client's Ideal Behaviors
- Adapt and promote lean manufacturing principals and APEX roadmap
- Actively participant in the Elimination of Waste Team meetings
- Responsible for the implementation of the overall technical vision and direction of the engineering department
- Manage product and process activities that include the following :
- Estimates
- APQP teams
- Equipment maintenance and improvements for sustained production life
- Process design
- Sample and prototype parts
- Capital selection, justification, and implementation
- Customer interaction
- Production launch and troubleshooting
- Drive continuous improvement activities that focus on automation, labor, process improvement, waste elimination, scrap reduction, tooling cost reduction, and sharing of Best Practices
- Support a preventive maintenance program for the company's production machines, buildings and grounds to ensure that they are maintained in good repair and always working order
- Actively participate in the establishment of a spare part program for the company's production equipment
- Initiates maintenance and repairs as required and prepare justifications for proposal for major repairs and renovations
- Develop and monitor annual capital project plans
- Provide technical expertise and manufacturing support for problem solving and cost reductions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensures that the department is staffed with top talent in all positions and that their abilities are identified, developed and utilized
- Act as a positive Role Model and provide a voice for all departments
- Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.
Skills / Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related education is preferred
- 5 years of work experience in tooling, automotive manufacturing, and engineering field
- Understanding of metal forming and manufacturing processes and systems
- Press related experience
- Understanding of stamping and manufacturing processes and systems
- Possess working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14000 and customer specific requirements.
- Effective interpersonal / communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
