MongoDB Database Administrator - Canada

Who You Are You are an experienced Software Engineer or a professional in related fields who will be supporting the development of our customers’ vision, accelerating the time to value, while driving a multitude of customer adoption scenarios - from building new solutions to modernizing legacy applications or migrating to the cloud.

Our consulting solutions ensure that organizations get the best out of MongoDB and PostgreSQL. What You Will Be Doing MongoDB administration duties include : Build / Configure MongoDB replication and sharding.

Implement appropriate indexes for performance improvement. Perform fine-tune configurations on MongoDB and servers for performance improvement.

Create and publish database health checks to monitoring systems to identify slow queries; replication lags; node failures;

index usage patterns; CPU usage; memory usage; locks; number of connections and any other relevant parameters. PostgreSQL administration duties include : Installation, configuration, and maintenance of PostgreSQL instances.

Monitoring and tuning PostgreSQL performance. Implementing and managing PostgreSQL replication. Backup and recovery strategies for PostgreSQL databases.

Managing PostgreSQL upgrades and patches. General duties include : Evaluate, plan, and perform the DB upgrades. Maintenance during release / outage, etc.

Implement optimal backup and recovery. Understand and optimize query performance. Database security and access control. Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Understanding of manual builds / management of MongoDB and Ops Manager automation builds / management. Experience with design / implementation of MongoDB replica sets and shared clusters.

Proficiency in database performance, scaling, and tuning concepts. Expertise in PostgreSQL administration. Familiarity with other SQL and NoSQL database technologies (Cassandra, MariaDB / MySQL, etc.

is preferred. Development experience with one or more modern scripting / automation languages (Ansible, Python, etc.) is preferred.

Strong collaboration skills and experience working across multiple teams both within a division and enterprise-wide. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, facilitation, and prioritization skills.

Robust technical acumen, ensuring that technical solutions, strategies, practices, and governance deliver business and customer value.
