Position Type : Certified Support Services / School Nurse

This position is a full-time classified support staff position and is subject to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Board of School Trustees. Pay is hourly in accordance with the Classified Health Services Wage Schedule at a step in consideration of nursing experience. Columbia Elementary is a Pk-1 building.

Qualifications

Current RN or LPN licensure in State of Indiana preferred

Current First Aid certification and current CPR certification required

Experience in nursing and completion of a state and / or local school health orientation program preferred

Computer literacy and competency in use of existing technology required

Strong oral and written communication and mathematics computational skills are required

Effective organizational and time-management skills required

Performance Responsibilities

Assess individual students and staff members who present with health concerns and provide initial first aid, consultation, and / or referral, as needed

Perform vision screenings, assist speech pathologists with hearing screenings, and perform preventative head checks, to assure our compliance with Indiana code and district policies

Maintain contact with medical providers to address individual medical issues

Maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates including immunizations, individual care plans and medical conditions, and the related archival responsibilities

Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues, according to FERPA

Perform other duties as directed by Principal or Corporation Head Nurse
