Summary :

This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnership (see more details below). The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is one of the leading events of its kind in the world.

It’s an annual five-day event with a total attendance of 28, attracting artists, producers, students and animation fans from around the world.

As Volunteer Coordinator, you will work with the OIAF Managing Director to recruit and manage the + new and returning volunteers that help run the Ottawa International Animation Festival.

Responsibilities :

  • Update the Festival’s online volunteer system to reflect the schedule.
  • Recruit new and returning volunteers through general communication, social marketing, postering, and school presentations.
  • Recruit Volunteer team leaders.
  • Process and evaluate volunteer applications.
  • Update volunteer materials.
  • Create shift schedules for all volunteers.
  • Plan and host volunteer appreciation event.
  • Any other assigned duties

Skills and Qualifications :

  • Excellent communication and people skills (verbal and written)
  • Good organizational skills and initiative
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Database skills are a plus (queries)
  • Good knowledge of Google / Microsoft suite applications and experience doing mail merges.
  • French language fluency (verbal and written) is an asset
  • Experience working in customer service
  • Strong computer skills : ability to quickly learn new programs / platforms and take initiative to troubleshoot

Additional Qualifications Required :

Eligible to participate in Ontario’s Job Creation Partnership (JCP) program by meeting the following criteria :

1. An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week (part-time students and graduates may apply)

2. Live in Ontario

3. Legally authorized to work in Canada

4. Have one, or both, of the following criteria :

a. Established an Employment Insurance (EI) benefit claim (regular or maternity / parental benefits ONLY)

b. Paid employee payroll premiums, i.e., employed in Canada, in five of any of the last ten years.

Remuneration :

$ (gross) per week for 32 hours ($20. average per hour) provided by the Province of Ontario.
