As aWater ResourcesEngineer,youwill join ourEdmontonorCalgary,Albertaofficeas part of ourdynamicSurface Water Engineeringteam.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong,demonstratedfoundation in urban stormwater management who is passionate about tackling complex hydrological challenges. This role is ideal for an engineer whohas a mind fordetailed modelingandanalysis,but is also comfortable convertingideas andconceptsto detaileddesign, andcan supportthe full project lifecycle through construction at the intersection of urban drainage, natural systems (likecreeks, rivers, andwetlands)that aim to minimizereceiving stream/river impacts

The successful applicant willbe involved ina broad range ofwater resourcesprojectsfor a diverse set of clientswithresponsibilitiesthat may include:

  • Lead engineering analysis and design for urban drainage and surface water management projects, for both private and public clients.

  • Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs of stormwatermanagementponds and wetlands,grey/greeninfrastructure, and erosion and sediment control practices.

  • Conduct specialized hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, including:

  • Master drainage planning and stormwater analysis.

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of dual drainage systems PCSWMM, etc.).

  • Complex stormwater pond analysis dam breach modeling, water quality).

  • Detailed wetland water balance studies.

  • Support river engineering and environmental assessment tasks.

  • Prepare and/or review construction cost estimates and tender specifications.

  • Provide resident engineering and contract administration support for construction projects.

  • Successfully manage project budgets, invoicing, scheduling, change management, and client management.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including hydrogeological, geotechnical,survey,landscape design, transportation,structural, mechanical, electrical,and naturalsciencesdisciplines.

  • Direct and supportfield data collection exercisesas well asdata synthesis/analysis;including site reconnaissance,and topographic surveying.

  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior team members.

  • Prepare technical reports, technical memoranda, and work plans.

  • Support business development initiatives including preparing proposals and building strong client relationships.

  • Work with regulatory agencies to obtain approvals.

  • Willingto travel within Alberta, BC, and SK to support projects.

  • Activelyparticipatein our strong Health and Safety culture.

WhatWe Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources, Environmental, or Civil Engineering. A graduate degree would be considered anasset.

  • Fiveor moreyears ofprogressiveexperience inwater resourcesengineering, with a primaryfocus onurbanstormwatermanagement projects andmunicipal engineering.

  • Professional Engineer or Professional Licensee (engineering) designation (or candidacy) with APEGA isrequired.

  • Demonstratedproficiencyinurban stormwatermodeling software PCSWMM, EPA SWMM,MIKE+,InfoWorksICM,GeoSTORM) isrequired.

  • Experience with variousotherwater resources modeling software SWAT, HSP-F, EFDC) would be considered an asset.

  • Experiencewithpreparing detailed designs, construction cost estimates, technical specifications,andtender/procurementpackages.

  • Experience with Python, R, or VBA for data analysis and model automation would be considered an asset.

  • Experience with design and drafting software such as ArcGIS,Global Mapper, Q-GIS,AutoCAD,and Civil3Dwould be an asset.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of currentregulations and legislation.

  • Ability to effectively manage projects ofvarious sizesand complexity simultaneously.

  • Experience in writing technical reports and proposals and giving presentations to multi-stakeholder groups.

  • Self-motivatedindividual,possessingstrong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong ability tocommunicatecomplex concepts in a clear and concise manner.

  • A valid Class5driver’s license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.
