The YMCA of Greater Toronto is a charity that ignites the potential in people, helping them grow and give back to their communities.

For more than 170 years, the YMCA of Greater Toronto has provided opportunities through a variety of programs and services including health and fitness, licensed childcare, camps, employment and immigrant services, education and training, and services for youth, families and seniors.

Across 460 locations in the Greater Toronto Area, the YMCA of Greater Toronto is a leading charity that helps everyone shine.

YMCA of Greater Toronto’s Board of Directors aims to be diverse and inclusive, working together to earn the trust of communities in the GTA, members, and donors alike, by using their combined skills and experiences to make careful, rational, and well thought out decisions that fulfil YMCA of Greater Toronto’s mandate.

This group of community volunteers provides vision, strategic leadership, and stewardship for the charity.

The YMCA of Greater Toronto is committed to providing a healthy and accessible workplace that supports one’s dignity, self - esteem and the ability to achieve one’s full potential.

With this in mind, all appointees will be expected to take steps to promote and maintain a healthy, respectful, inclusive, and harassment-free work environment.

The YMCA of Greater Toronto is particularly interested, this year, in engaging with potential board members who have expertise in real estate development and asset management, information technology, government affairs, public affairs and communications, and / or philanthropy and fundraising.

The Board’s overriding considerations in identifying and confirming individuals to serve as Directors are their credibility, relevant experience, and ability and capacity to serve in relation to the governance needs of the YMCA of Greater Toronto.

All candidates must possess the qualifications, experience and commitment required to govern an institution of the size, complexity, and reputation of the YMCA of Greater Toronto.
