Senior Process Engineer

Mitsubishi Low Carbon Solutions Canada, a subsidiary of Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA)is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join our team.

This is a hybrid position out of Calgary, Alberta

SCOPE :

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group will contribute to realizing net zero emissions for the world as a whole.

The Senior Process Engineer will support Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI)’s carbon capture business in Canada.

The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of work experience in energy, utilities, chemical process industries or a related field.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparation of process engineering calculations and documents including design optimization and value awareness
• Provide technical support to project and engineering team in Japan, Canada or US
• Provide Authentication (., services for the work performed in Japan, Canada or US in accordance with APEGA requirements.
• Lead technical discussions / meetings with owners and partners.
• Perform technical assistance for commissioning, start-up, operation and maintenance.
• Provide ongoing operational support and assistance including but not limited to documentation and development of lessons learned and recommendations for improvement.
• Support business development needs and priorities.
• Attend conferences, prepare / present technical information.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Education Requirement : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Chemical Engineering required.
• Experience : At least 8 years of relevant experience. Commissioning experience and / or chemical plant operation experience desired.
• Any special skills / training / certifications : Valid Professional Engineer, , license currently registered in APEGA and transferable to other Canadian provinces by comity.
• Excellent communication skills suited to the audience; the ability to convey ideas in written form and the capability to share those ideas verbally in a clear, concise manner;

ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications & comfortable using other software as required.

Experience with process simulation software is required (ASPEN, Proll, ProMax, Ability to attend after hour calls (5 . 7 as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

• Location : Calgary, Travel : 25%
• Weekend / late night work if applicable : Due to the 15-16 hours’ time zone differences between Calgary and Japan, there are typically 2-3 days where it is expected that meetings will be held in the evening to coordinate activities with Japan.
• Lifting / physical requirements : Regularly required to sit for long period, stand, walk, talk and / or hear. Frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
