The Business Intelligence Developer supports the planning, development and maintenance of business intelligence solution for the VPFO’s data and reporting needs. This role focuses on implementing and supporting data models, reports and dashboard that enhance data driven decision making across VPFO and the broader university community.
Working within a collaborative environment that includes analysts, developers and technical staff across UBC IT, Data Governance and Finance teams, the BI Developer contributes to the ongoing improvement of reporting and data integration processes.
This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail and the ability to translate user requirements into effective BI solutions. Some work outside regular business hours may be required for system maintenance or in the event of major service disruptions.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Business Intelligence Manager and works closely with other developers, analysts and finance professionals in ensuring the highest quality of solution delivery.

Errors in data or reports may lead to inaccurate analysis and decision-making, potentially affecting financial and operational outcomes. The BI Developer must exercise sound judgment in verifying data accuracy and in maintaining security and confidentiality of information.
Supervision Received
Works with considerable latitude with regard to methods and procedures. Work is reviewed in terms of achievement of specific objectives and goals. Must work independently as well as contribute actively and collaborate openly as a team member.

May provide guidance, coaching and technical support to other BI solution users in the VPFO and the University.
