Senior Generation Specialist - Electrical Engineer
Join our team of leaders in electrical power system maintenance, repair, testing, engineering, and training. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer - Generation Specialist (RICE) based out of Edmonton or Calgary. The successful candidate will be accountable to provide their technical expertise, engineering knowledge of utilities, heavy industrial clients and should be well versed in leadership and mentoring of junior engineers as needed. We are a strong and dedicated group of professionals with diverse skills and experience in the electrical world ranging from 600V to 765KV.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Minimum 10 years experience in working with generator protection and generator controls, with focus on Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (RICE) generation units.
- Ability to independently design instrumentation systems and test RICE generation units.
- Ability to draft SLD, schematics and drawing package involving RICE generation units.
- Ability to program PLCs, governors, AVRs, supervisory controllers, HMI for control of RICE generation units.
- Ability to develop P&IDs, schematics, for integration of RICE generation units to customer electrical grid system / utility.
- Ability to independently test control systems, excitation systems for RICE generation units.
- Ability to independently lead a team from inception of multi MW RICE generation units.
Requirements
Must work safely and adhere to all electrical safety core principles / procedures.Prefer a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering OR an Associate’s degree / technologist diploma from an accredited two-year technical college.Must have general PC skills, including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel.Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check.All offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening.Must be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel (Canada, USA, Mexico).Must have a valid passport.Benefits
