Position Summary :

The API developer will help design and develop cloud-based, SaaS, and LBS products for the Telematics Business Unit. In particular, the API developer will concentrate on connecting disparate software systems through APIs.

Duties include (but are not limited to) :

  • Design, develop, and test scalable and maintainable APIs
  • Integrate third-party services through their APIs
  • Efficiently work with third-party developers to make sure project goals and quality standards are being met
  • Collaborate with other R&D and Product team members to map out integration strategies that align with business goals
  • Ensure API security and implement robust authentication, authorization, and auditing mechanisms
  • Monitor API performance and optimize code for efficiency
  • Contribute to the development of internal tools to improve the API development process
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive API documentation for internal and external users
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, development, QA, customer experience) to understand and translate business requirements into well-defined API specifications
  • Able to manage levers of Time, Scope, and Resource to come up with effective project plan
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest API development trends and technologies

  • Experience creating web pages that promote the use of company APIs
  • Effective project management skills with projects involving third-party companies
  • Good documentation skills that allow both Dev and Product teams to efficiently deliver their portion of the solution

  • Position requirements :

  • Experience designing, implementing and testing APIs
  • Strong knowledge of API design principles and best practices (e.g., RESTful, SOAP, JSON, XML)
  • Webhook development experience
  • Experience using SOAP UI tool, Postman, Swagger or similar API development tools
  • Solid backend development experience
  • Proven ability to develop scalable web services
  • Strong Java or Python programming experience
  • Proven experience troubleshooting third-party web services (both API and their servers)
  • Database design experience – both relational (preferably, Postgres) and NOSQL (preferably Cassandra)
  • MQTT development experience
  • Solid understanding of network security
  • Strong knowledge of performance monitoring of web services
  • Git, CVS
  • Bonus points for :
  • o CI / CD pipeline experience including Docker container development

    o Solid front-end usability knowledge

    o Experience with AI development tools such as Copilot

    o Javascript, C#, Ruby, Go experience

    o Working knowledge of Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud services
