Job description
POSITION: ESTIMATOR IN CONSTRUCTION – MONTREAL
SAJO is a well-established construction company with over 45 years of experience, headquartered in Montreal. SAJO operates in the retail, commercial, residential, public works and utilities sectors, and is recognized for its high-quality standards, strong partnerships and advanced technological solutions in project management.
SAJO is currently seeking dynamic individuals for the position of ESTIMATOR for its general contracting division. We are looking for people who can join our high-performance teams and contribute to the development and smooth running of our projects which may include luxury retail, residential complexes, and hospitality facilities.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
  • The estimator must have in-depth understanding of construction procedures and project management principles and systems.
  • The estimator must have excellent management, negotiating and leadership skills as well as excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • The estimator must have good verbal and written communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work in tandem with the project manager to review project and project details.
  • Review all tender documentation, plans, requirements etc. to prepare a comprehensive bid.
  • Discuss and formulate project strategy with project manager and project director, including logistics plans, scopes of work, labor strategies etc.
  • Perform quality take offs and schedule of values. Create and issue scopes of work for each phase of construction.
  • Call for tenders from local companies, follow up and validate all pricing.
  • Prepare final tender using company documentation, process and templates. Make informed decisions based on previous projects, cost models and current market trends.
  • Perform site visits as required (some travel may be required).
  • Conduct daily communication with site teams including superintendents, field project managers and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with clients, architects, subcontractors, and external parties to develop and maintain relationships that are aligned with the beliefs and values of the organization.
  • Formulate and complete targeted Requests for Proposals (RFPs), negotiating and administering contractual agreements as well as ensuring regulatory compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: A university degree or technical diploma in the areas of management, engineering, architecture, building sciences or construction technology.
  • Experience: 4+ years of estimation experience in construction. Luxury retail and/or residential experience is a plus!
  • Experience with high-end architectural and millwork packages.
  • Project management software experience including MS Project, Procore etc.

SAJO est actuellement à la recherche de personnes dynamiques pour le poste d'ESTIMATEUR pour sa division d'entrepreneur général. Nous recherchons des personnes pouvant s’intégrer à ses équipes performantes et contribuer au développement et à la bonne marche de ses projets qui peuvent inclure des commerces de détail de haute gamme, des complexes résidentiels, et des installations d'hôtellerie. COMPÉTENCES CLÉS:
  • L'estimateur doit avoir une compréhension approfondie des procédures de construction et des principes et systèmes de gestion de projet.
  • L'estimateur doit posséder d'excellentes compétences en gestion, en négociation et en leadership ainsi que d'excellentes compétences en organisation et en gestion du temps.
  • L'estimateur doit avoir de bonnes compétences en communication verbale et écrite.

RESPONSABILITÉS:
  • Travailler de concert avec le chef de projet pour examiner le projet et les détails du projet.
  • Examiner l'ensemble de la documentation relative à l'appel d'offres, les plans, les exigences, etc. afin de préparer une offre complète.
  • Discuter et formuler la stratégie du projet avec le chef de projet et le directeur de projet, y compris les plans logistiques, l'étendue des travaux, les stratégies en matière de main-d'œuvre, etc.
  • Effectuer des relevés de qualité et établir un calendrier des valeurs. Créer et émettre des cahiers des charges pour chaque phase de la construction.
  • Faire des appels d'offres auprès des entreprises locales, assurer le suivi et valider tous les prix.
  • Préparer l'appel d'offres final en utilisant la documentation, le processus et les modèles de l'entreprise. Prendre des décisions éclairées sur la base des projets précédents, des modèles de coûts et des tendances actuelles du marché.
  • Effectuer des visites sur le terrain selon les besoins (certains déplacements peuvent être nécessaires).
  • Communiquer quotidiennement avec les équipes de chantier, y compris les surintendants, les chefs de projet sur le terrain et d'autres parties prenantes.
  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les clients, les architectes, les sous-traitants et les parties externes afin de développer et d'entretenir des relations conformes aux convictions et aux valeurs de l'organisation.
  • Formuler et compléter des demandes de propositions (RFP) ciblées, négocier et administrer des accords contractuels et assurer la conformité réglementaire.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Formation: Un diplôme universitaire ou un diplôme technique dans les domaines de la gestion, de l'ingénierie, de l'architecture, des sciences du bâtiment ou de la technologie de la construction.
  • Expérience: 4+ années d'expérience en estimation dans le domaine de la construction. Une expérience dans le commerce de détail et/ou résidentiel de luxe est un plus !
  • Expérience des ensembles architecturaux et de menuiserie haut de gamme.
  • Expérience en logiciels de gestion de projet, notamment MS Project, Procore, etc.
