Senior Manager, Business Intelligence & Analytics
The Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Analytics will lead the design, development, and implementation of a comprehensive business intelligence and data infrastructure function serving several diverse business units. This is a strategic leadership position that combines organizational architecture, technical expertise, and cross‑functional coordination to establish consistent data governance, enable self‑service analytics, and provide automated reporting capabilities across the enterprise. The incumbent will report directly to the Director of Information Technology and will strengthen the BI team and infrastructure from the outset by establishing standards, processes, and technologies that provide superior business insights through data‑driven decision‑making.

Responsibilities
Strategic leadership and organizational design
- Define the organizational structure and roadmap for BI capabilities to develop analytical capabilities across all business units, including phased implementation priorities and resource requirements.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive BI strategy and roadmap, aligned with business objectives, defining which business units will benefit from BI investments at each stage and the order in which capabilities will be deployed.
Alignment between business units and demand management
Establish and operationalize a formal demand management and backlog prioritization process that evaluates business unit requests against corporate strategy using a defined framework (e.g., MoSCoW methodology, weighted criteria).Conduct quarterly reviews with each business unit to assess the effectiveness of BI solutions, identify new data needs, and align the BI roadmap with business priorities.Data infrastructure and architecture
Design and implement a modern, scalable data architecture (e.g., data lake, medallion architecture) that consolidates data from disparate sources and serves as the foundation for all BI solutions across business units.Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of the data platform (cloud data warehouse, data lake, ETL / ELT tools, metadata management) to support enterprise‑wide analytics with high performance and reliability.Automation and self‑service analytics
Design and implement self‑service BI platforms that enable business unit users to create reports and dashboards with minimal IT assistance, using controlled data resources.Develop a data catalog and metadata management system to help business units discover available data resources and understand data traceability, ownership, and quality.Team Development and Operation
Build and develop a high‑performing BI team by recruiting and training data engineers, BI analysts, and specialists with the required technical and interpersonal skills.Provide mentoring, coaching, and career development guidance to team members, promoting technical expertise in the areas of cloud platforms, data engineering, and modern BI tools.Change Management and Adoption
Lead organizational change initiatives to establish new BI practices, data governance requirements, and self‑service analytics capabilities across all business units.Overcome resistance to change through transparent stakeholder engagement, demonstrating value and building trust with business unit leaders.Skills
Technical leadership
Strong knowledge of modern cloud data platforms (Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent) and ability to make platform architecture decisions.Hands‑on expertise in data warehouse / lake design, dimensional modeling, and scalable data architecture patterns.Proficiency in ETL / ELT tools and frameworks (Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Informatica, dbt, or cloud‑native alternatives).Strategic thinking
Ability to translate business strategy and business unit objectives into a coherent, prioritized BI roadmap.Experience in designing organizational structures and governance models for analytics functions.Ability to evaluate trade‑offs between competing business demands and make transparent prioritization decisions.Cross‑functional leadership

Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, business intelligence, engineering, or a related field.Master's degree preferred but not required; equivalent industry certifications (cloud data engineer, BI certifications) may substitute for degree requirement.5+ years of progressive experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or data engineering.More than 2 years of direct management experience leading analytics, BI, or data engineering teams.Proven experience in building BI capabilities from scratch or expanding BI functions to multiple business units or operational divisions within a large enterprise.Hands‑on experience designing and implementing modern data architectures, data warehouses, or data platforms.3+ years of experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and modern data architecture patterns.Proven experience managing stakeholders within complex, multi‑divisional organizations with competing requirements.Technical Skills (Required)
Expert proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and query optimization.Hands‑on experience with cloud data platforms (Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent).Proficiency in ETL / ELT tools and practices (ETL frameworks, modern data pipeline tools).Strong knowledge of a modern BI platform (Power BI, Fabric, Tableau, or equivalent).Technical Skills (Highly Valued)
Experience with Python or R for data analysis and automation.Knowledge of advanced analytics, machine learning, or AI integration.Experience with version control, CI / CD practices, and agile development methodologies.Languages
Proficiency in English and French (spoken and written) is considered an asset.Other Requirements
