Alteo is seeking a VP Software Engineering for a permanent position based in Montreal.

As VP Software Engineering, you will report directly to the CEO and be a member of the Executive Committee. You will have overall responsibility for the vision, strategy and execution of the Software Engineering department.

You will oversee software development, ensuring its alignment with corporate objectives, while structuring and managing technical teams to ensure efficiency and specialization.

Responsibilities :

  • Recruit and retain key talent in technical roles such as IT engineering, system administrators, and other technical functions.
  • Structure teams to benefit from key functional specializations, including : software engineering (Scrum Masters, Agile coaches), technical skills (frontend, backend, databases), architects, business analysts, UI / UX design, DevOps (CI / CD, deployments, IaC, SAST, DAST, development environment, source code management), as well as system, network and cloud administrators.
  • Organize and lead teams to ensure functional specialization through training, hiring or outsourcing.
  • Implement and oversee effective software development practices, such as Scrum and Kanban, to ensure healthy and productive work processes.
  • Co-develop product roadmap in collaboration with team leaders.
  • Develop an integration strategy for common product technologies, such as CanLII, Decisia, etc.
  • Co-develop technical strategy in partnership with VP Technologies.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for IT infrastructure and other activities, while ensuring that budget forecasts are respected.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and integrate best practices and technologies to improve development processes.
  • Anticipate technological trends and integrate new technologies and tools to optimize team performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments (product, marketing, operations) to ensure that software developments meet market needs and customer requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with the CEO and Management Committee on project progress, challenges encountered and opportunities identified.
  • Ensure the quality of software deliverables by implementing rigorous testing and validation processes.
  • Ensure that developed solutions meet security and compliance standards.

Profile :

  • Bachelor's / Master's degree in IT, software engineering or equivalent
  • 10-15+ years experience in IT, software development
  • 5+ years' experience managing software engineering teams
  • Expertise in software development methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, or DevOps.
  • Proven skills in managing complex projects, with an ability to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and lead diverse teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of current technologies, market trends and best practices in software engineering.

En tant que Vice-Président Ingénierie Logicielle, vous serez directement rattaché au CEO et membre du comité de direction.

Vous superviserez le développement de logiciels, assurant leur alignement avec les objectifs de l'entreprise, tout en structurant et en gérant les équipes techniques pour garantir leur efficacité et leur spécialisation.

Responsabilités :

  • Recruter et fidéliser les talents clés dans les rôles techniques tels que l'ingénierie informatique, les administrateurs système, et autres fonctions techniques.
  • Structurer les équipes pour qu'elles bénéficient de spécialisations fonctionnelles essentielles, notamment dans les domaines suivants : génie logiciel (Scrum Masters, Agile coaches), compétences techniques (frontend, backend, bases de données), architectes, analystes métiers, design UI / UX, DevOps (CI / CD, déploiements, IaC, SAST, DAST, environnement de développement, gestion des codes sources), ainsi que les administrateurs système, réseau et cloud.
  • Organiser et diriger les équipes pour assurer leur spécialisation fonctionnelle à l'aide de formations, d'embauches ou d'impartition.
  • Mettre en place et superviser des pratiques de développement logiciel efficaces, telles que Scrum et Kanban, pour assurer des processus de travail sains et productifs.
  • Co-développer la roadmap des produits en collaboration avec les chefs d'équipe.
  • Développer une stratégie d'intégration des technologies communes aux produits, tels que CanLII, Decisia, etc.
  • Co-développer la stratégie technique en partenariat avec le VP Technologies.
  • Élaborer et gérer le budget annuel pour l'infrastructure TI et les autres activités, tout en veillant au respect des prévisions budgétaires.
  • Encourager la culture de l'innovation et intégrer les meilleures pratiques et technologies pour améliorer les processus de développement.
  • Anticiper les tendances technologiques et intégrer les nouvelles technologies et outils pour optimiser les performances des équipes.
  • Collaborer avec les autres départements (produit, marketing, opérations) pour garantir que les développements logiciels répondent aux besoins du marché et aux exigences des clients.
  • Communiquer régulièrement avec le CEO et le comité de direction sur l'avancement des projets, les défis rencontrés et les opportunités identifiées.
  • Assurer la qualité des livrables logiciels en mettant en place des processus rigoureux de tests et de validation.
  • Veiller à ce que les solutions développées respectent les normes de sécurité et de conformité.

Profil :

  • Bac / Maîtrise en informatique, ingénierie logicielle ou l'équivalent
  • 10-15+ années d'expérience en informatique, développement logiciel
  • 5+ années d'expérience en gestion d'équipes d'ingénierie logicielle
  • Expertise dans les méthodologies de développement logiciel, telles que Agile, Scrum, ou DevOps.
  • Compétences avérées en gestion de projets complexes, avec une capacité à respecter les délais et les budgets.
  • Excellentes compétences en communication et en leadership, avec une capacité à motiver et à diriger des équipes diversifiées.
  • Connaissance approfondie des technologies actuelles, des tendances du marché et des meilleures pratiques en ingénierie logicielle.
