Field Retail Operations Specialist / Coordinator

In addition to expanding and increasing the number of our corporate locations, the company have become a viable branding and fuel supply alternative for independent fuel site owner / dealers who do not wish to continue with any of the major Canadian fuel brands.
Ideal candidate will support a network of gas stations (Corporate and Dealer) located across British Columbia. You will operate from your home office and will be travelling 30-50% of your time to attend to gas stations across the Province.
In addition to ensuring that consistent retail operational practices are maintained across all Company sites, you will provide insight, assistance, and guidance to station operators on guest experience, brand and operating standards, merchandising, retail store product selection, manager training, promotional programs, advertising and marketing.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, consult with and influence store operators / dealers to develop, update and execute operational plans and strategies, including merchandising, guest experience and store operational infrastructure.
- Develop individualized strategies with dealers and store operators. Provide coaching on operational excellence, guest experience, local store marketing, and inventory.
- Monitor and ensure accountability for all aspects of store operations, providing advice, coaching and assistance to store management.
May directly supervise Corporate Store Managers and teams.
- Recruit, hire, develop and retain top talent within the market to ensure appropriate staffing levels at all corporate stores.
- Ensure key processes and plans are in place through weekly / monthly and quarterly store visits, store evaluations and analysis.
- Support dealers in executing company-wide initiatives that elevate the Company client experience.
- Use discretion to escalate non-compliance, breakdowns and critical departures from our processes to senior management.
- Generate and maintain detailed documentation of non-compliance issues, discussions and follow-up actions to support all action taken on any given location.
- Oversee new corporate and dealer sites launches and training new managers on Company standards and operational practices.
- Ensure regulatory and health and safety compliance.
- Recruit for gas station managers, train and ensure readiness when new stations are opening. Work closely with the Project Management team to ensure coordination of new stations opening.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with dealers, influencing performance by providing timely coaching feedback and critical support that builds overall dealer capability.
- Ensure all food and operational safety guidelines / standards are understood and being met.
- In partnership with dealers, diagnose and remove barriers affecting customer experience, store performance and profit, and develop business plans to improve (plans may include store operations, local marketing, staff training, and other areas of focus).
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of petroleum retail experience or other comparable retail experience
- Associate's degree or equivalent business experience; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Demonstrated record of excellent customer service and quality standards
- Must be a collaborative individual who works well with others and can work with multiple departments, stakeholders and team members
- Demonstrated record of successfully growing sales in a food service or retail environment
- Understanding of P&L statements, budgeting, and controllable costs
- Proficiency with Word and Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
- Must possesses a valid driver's license in the state of residence, as well as maintain a good driving record and a minimum level of automobile insurance coverage
- Comprehensive knowledge of requirements and provisions of dealer agreements
- Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures and relate them to others
- Strong influencing and conflict resolution skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
- 30 - 50%+ travel (Overnight and daily travel is required)
