Park and Sports Field Operator

Responsibilities

• Maintain official sports field dimensions for baseball diamonds, soccer pitches, bowling green, etc.; perform proper lining and grooming procedures to ensure safe playable surfaces; clean outdoor sports facilities including benches, backstops, fence lines, under bleachers while attending scheduled tournaments and fulfilling set‑up requirements; carry out tasks with minimal disruption to play.
• Splash pad maintenance and daily recording; litter pick‑up and trash removal; washroom maintenance; grass maintenance equipment maintenance and servicing; playground maintenance; set‑up / take‑down of required equipment and items for special events; repair benches, fences, bleachers; grass cutting, weed eating, pruning shrubs and trees; maintain garden beds; trail grooming; shoreline clean‑up.
• Assist with inspecting and monitoring outdoor pool equipment; aid in maintaining pool by cleaning, painting, vacuuming, shocking and chlorinating.
• Graffiti removal from buildings and structures; cleaning, painting, basic carpentry and plumbing repairs; monitor and record building systems (HVAC, security, fire systems); stripping and waxing floors.
• Foster productive public relations and engagement as community interface, while providing exceptional customer service.
• Operate and maintain tools, equipment and vehicles (grass maintenance equipment, tractors, trucks, front‑end loaders, water tanks and small equipment including all auxiliary attachments) safely and efficiently.
• Perform daily circle checks on all equipment and report defects to the immediate supervisor.
• Maintain daily written records of work‑related activities.
• Engage in laboring duties : climbing, lifting, balancing, kneeling, stooping, walking, handling materials to assist in maintaining Norfolk County facilities and infrastructure; work outdoors.
• Provide exceptional customer service.
