As an integral member in the ASSET Reliability Division, your work will include performing equipment and facility condition inspections, compiling and writing reports, and preparing drawings, estimates, and proposals. This position involves travel to job sites on a short-term basis to perform inspection work and requires the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and other engineering consultants. The position also involves performing engineering and design for a variety of projects often related to the inspection work being performed.

Our essentials

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering and registration as a professional engineer with EGBC
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with EGBC
  • Five to ten years of relevant design experience including conveying systems, bulk loading and unloading equipment, buildings, and structural support systems for process equipment
  • Experience conducting inspections and repair designs for infrastructure at ports, marine terminals, and mines and for a range of bulk material handling equipment including shiploaders, ship unloaders, reclaimers, and rail car dumpers
  • Experience with repair design for concrete, steel, and timber
  • Must be familiar with AutoCAD and either RISA, 3D, STADD, S-Frame or SAP
  • Must be familiar with BCBC or NBCC and S16, A23.3 and 086
  • A natural ability to take on a leadership role and mentor junior engineers and designers
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A valid BC driver’s license
