Accountabilities : How You Will Make an Impact
- Provide electrical engineering design and analysis for nuclear and other industrial plants.
- Provide a high level of expertise in one or more specific areas related to electrical engineering, e.g., control instrumentation assessment / design / specification of equipment and components, electrical power generation and distribution.
- Perform condition and performance assessments of low to high voltage electrical equipment such as control instrumentation assessment / design / specification of equipment and components, electrical power generation and distribution; etc.
- Perform engineering change design and analysis following established change control procedures.
- Develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs.
- Deliver electrical engineering expertise service to power generation utilities and other customers.
- Interface with construction / procurement partners, utility stakeholders, and equipment vendors throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.
e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
- Provide field support to multi-disciplined plant design modifications, including provision of field engineering.
- Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.
- Complete all service contracts within commitments of schedule, effort, and scope.
- Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting / engineering to support refurbishment projects and operating unit (capital) projects.
- Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Lead a team of design engineers to deliver electrical engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other customers.
- Assign resources, maintain budgets and schedules associated with assigned electrical projects.
- Prepare bids in answer to clients’ requests for proposals.
- Interface with clients and maintain a client focused culture within the Section.
- Provide support to Director, Electrical and I&C Engineering
- Identify opportunities for synergies with other Kinectrics service offerings.
- Stay current with developments within your field of expertise.
- Other duties as required.

- Responsible for staffing and resourcing decisions, including scheduling and assigning work.
- Support Director with managerial functions such as hiring, promotion, performance reviews, pay increases, staff development.
and disciplinary actions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Provide mentoring and development to employees and contribute to the recruitment of new staff.
- Identify growth and development opportunities for team members.
Culture Development :
- Support Director to drive a culture of high performance and safety where everyone is committed to and accountable for delivery of performance goals and operational KPIs, ensuring a customer first culture.
- Provides training and skill development for both day-to-day operations as well as for growth and improved performance.
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement in processes and initiate / monitor corrective actions required to improve performance.
- Creates and maintains a positive culture focused on worker morale and corporate social responsibility.
Financial :
- Ensure business systems are updated and accurate including revenue forecasts.
- Manage and motivate assigned staff and team members, achieving effective utilization of resources and prioritization. Ensure effective facility management, work allocation and safe operations.
- Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual operations budget; scheduling expenditures;
analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Support Director with maintaining service line profit and loss, material cost, labour and bottom-line results, budgeting, business planning and reporting as needed.
Health, Safety and Compliance :
- Supports Director to drive a culture of Right first time / Safety First and that all scheduling, programming and monitoring work is conducted in compliance with regulations that apply to the work and customer.
- Accountable supporting error free culture & staff behaviors by implementing human performance tools.
- Lead by example and set high standards for Health & Safety and Nuclear Safety Culture.
Management and Continuous Improvement :
- Ensure that the business strategy is well developed and based on good market and competitor knowledge. The agreed strategy is to be clearly articulated and communicated.
- Develop a business model which drives efficiency into the business.
- Seek to grow the scope of the product and service enhancements.
- Build relationships with current and future customers while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Ensure effective project management within service line.
- Drive timely input to invoicing and collections processes.
- Meet personal and team billability targets.
What You Need to Succeed
- A Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Science or Engineering is preferred.
- Have a minimum of 8 years’ experience, with some experience working on-site at a nuclear power plant.
- Proven track record in electrical design and analysis in electrical power distribution.
- Strong knowledge of generating station power upgrades including necessary system protection / system stability and relaying, and in performing condition assessments.
- Thorough understanding of nuclear power plant Engineering Change Control processes.
- Experience in performing condition assessments of equipment such as heat exchangers, high pressure and temperature piping and pressure components and other power plant equipment.
- Experience in project management and interfacing with and coordinating activities of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality.

- You will be a Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for PEO status, with a passion for engineering.
