The Role

The Assistant Environmental Electronics Technologist assists with monitoring, maintaining, and operating the Remote Weather and Environmental Sensing Networks across the province—work that directly improves public safety and supports climate readiness. You’ll collaborate within a team and partners who bring unique perspectives and problem‑solving skills, while tackling tasks that range from designing and building weather stations to troubleshooting electronics in remote locations. This is a role where no two days are the same.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or related field plus 2 years related experience OR
• High school Diploma plus three years related experience OR
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working in a comparable or similar capacity, outdoors, in an alpine environment, in harsh winter conditions
• Experience driving in adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain, ice, snow, blowing snow, mud and / or fog
• Experience operating a 4‑wheel drive vehicle including off‑road
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.

Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and / or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and / or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry.
