Instructional Designer – Defence Construction Canada
This new role within the Training and Development team strengthens learning and development capabilities. The Instructional Designer develops effective and engaging training solutions that support operational excellence and workforce development, reporting to the National Manager, Training and Development in Edmonton, AB.
Key Activities
- Assess training needs to identify learning objectives and performance gaps.
- Design and develop instructional materials for digital and instructor‑led programs, including storyboards, scripts, facilitator guides and learner guides.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, event planners and stakeholders to align content with business goals and learner needs.
- Serve as a technical resource for the creation and delivery of digital and instructor‑led training programs.
- Evaluate training materials and recommend enhancements or redesigns based on effectiveness and learner feedback.
- Collaborate on designing educational components for conferences, including keynote addresses, workshops and breakout sessions.
- Maintain organized project documentation and track progress using sound project‑management practices.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, with industry, client‑partners and stakeholders.
- Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate expectations.
Other Responsibilities
Measure learning outcomes and training effectiveness.Test course functionality and analyze Learning Management System performance data to inform ongoing improvements.Other duties as assigned.Required Skills and Knowledge
Best practices, methods, trends and legislation in instructional design, adult learning and learning technologies.Content‑creation software (e.g., Articulate 360).Online learning management systems.Project‑management principles.Formal Education and / or Certification(s) and Experience
Minimum : University degree in instructional design or adult learning with eight years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent.Preferred : Professional designation in instructional design and / or project management.Abilities
