Job Description
In Peel, Halton, Simcoe, and the GTA, you will be offering assistance to individuals of all ages in community settings. You have the flexibility to select shifts that align with your availability as they become available.
Please note that these positions are casual, and there is no guarantee of regular full-time hours.
REQUIREMENTS
Your main role will involve providing one-on-one support to individuals with special needs, both in their homes and in the community.
This support includes assisting with daily activities like meal preparation, personal care, and accompanying them on outings.
Additionally, you will play a crucial role in promoting social and life skills development by encouraging participation in recreational activities.
You will also be expected to provide conflict resolution and problem-solving assistance to clients during challenging situations.
- In the event of a crisis or when clients exhibit high-risk behaviors, you will need to utilize harm reduction practices to de-escalate and stabilize the situation.
- It is important to adhere to care plans and ensure that all administrative tasks are completed within the specified timeframes.
Qualifications
1. The candidate must possess a Human Services Diploma, such as Child & Youth Worker, Social Service Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Personal Support Worker, Addictions and Mental Health Worker, or similar.
Additionally, a minimum of 2 years' experience working with individuals diagnosed with ASD, mental health issues, or special needs is required.
2. The candidate should have experience in writing incident reports, serious occurrences, report taking, and daily logs.
They should also possess clinical skills and have experience in managing difficult behaviors.
3. The candidate must be able to carry out Safety Plans and Client Care Plans effectively. They should also have undergone a Vulnerable Sector Search within the past six months and have a clear Criminal Background Check.
4. A Child Welfare Check is also required. Additionally, the candidate must hold certification in crisis intervention, such as CPI or UMAB.
5. First Aid and CPR Level C certification is mandatory. Possessing a valid G License and having access to a reliable vehicle is preferred.
6. The candidate should be flexible and able to work various shifts with minimal notice.
