JobSummary :

A senior socialworker within a dedicated court team. They will need to be able tomanage cases within court proceedings from initial hearing to finaland then to adoption ifneeded.

They will needto produce a good standard of report writing and be able to giveevidence incourt.

This team onlytakes on cases within care proceedings so the social work must likedoing court work. You will only hold cases within care proceedings(and a few supervision orders) and cases going toadoption.

We have aprotected cases load in view of the demand of courtwork.

The CourtSocial Worker will be based at home however will need to visitchildren attend the office to undertake duty (approx.

once everytwo weeks) and any facetoface meeting. They will receive goodmanagement support and could develop skills in undertakingviability assessments and parentingassessments.

KeyDuties / Accountabilities :

As a socialworker in the London Borough of Sutton your role will be to act asan officer of the Local Authority and execute statutory functionsensuring that individuals are safeguarded and supported to achievepositiveoutcomes.

You will workin partnership with people other professionals and agencies andintervene to safeguard individuals promote social change maximiseindependence and provide appropriate information and advice aboutthird sector and universal services which support positiveoutcomes.

You will havethe ability to apply professional curiosity and use social worktheories and knowledge to formulate and test hypotheses reaching aprofessional judgement anddecision.

You willproduce a good standard of professional documentation relevant toyour service area and be able to prioritise your workload and workwithin definedtimescales.

Principles ofhuman rights and social justice are fundamental to the role and youwill be required to be able to effectively balance the protectionof individual rights against the need to use professional authorityand accountability effectively to safeguard vulnerableindividuals.

You will upholdthe profession and act a representative of the Local authority in avariety offorums.

Deliver service activities and manage caseloads toensure intended outcomes for customers and the Council aredelivered within agreed servicestandards.

EssentialExperienceRequired :

Experience ofmanaging looked after children and children with CP plans. Theywill need experience of undertaking viability assessment andwriting court reports isessential.

Experience withcourt experience writing court reports undertaking parentingassessment and working with children placed with their parentsother family members or in our care isessential.

EssentialQualificationRequired :

Social workqualification and at least one years post qualifying experience ina social work role and be able to meet the requirements of thesocial work regulation with the exception of Newly qualified SocialWorkers (ASYE) isessential.

Additionalinformation tonote :

The role ishybrid. Social Workers within this service have the option to bebased at home however do need to attend the main office foroperational needs (professional meetings team meetings undertakingduty trainingetc.)

Social Workerswill receive a Welcome Bonus of 1000 paid in your first monthsalary followed by a Retention Bonus of 1000 after your firstcompleted year of service a retention bonus of 2000 after yoursecond completed year followed by a retention bonus of 3000 everycompleted yearthereafter.

A current validUK driving licence and the use of a car for work with validinsurance covering business use where required isdesirable.
