Civil Designer – Roadway
Job Description
Our client's downtown Toronto Office is looking for a Civil Designer to support project delivery for projects across the Greater Toronto Area.
We are looking for a self-starter who will work with a highly functioning, entrepreneurial, autonomous team and be responsible for providing design services and multi-disciplinary coordination.
The successful candidate will mainly support our Highway / Roadway Project Managers on detailed design projects for MTO, municipal, transit and rail projects.
Daily tasks will entail technical evaluation and designs for a wide variety of civil designs and related infrastructure, including application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design engineering tasks.
Assignments will involve interpretation of design manuals and guidelines that will be evaluated by a senior level staff member.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Prepares plans, profiles, sections, and miscellaneous details with limited to high complexity in support of broader engineering activities.
- Gathers and records information to be used for cost estimating.
- Prepares specifications.
- Conducts site inspections & investigations during design development process.
- Prepares minor technical reports or sections of larger reports.
- Produce plans, 3D models and 2D drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, or MicroStation & InRoads.
- Interface with clients and attendance at meetings is required.
- Required to coordinate and manage civil engineering sub disciplines such as drainage, traffic, geotechnical, survey and others
Education Experience :
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Certified Engineer Technician (C.E.T), Engineer-in-Training (EIT - Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering), or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
- 2 to 5 years of applicable experience in road, transportation, or transit design
- Experience with Bentley MicroStation / InRoads / OpenRoads
- Experience with AutoCAD & Civil 3D
