Introduction

The Department of Corrections, Division of Juvenile Corrections, is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of youth placed in our care.

The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill two Treatment Specialist 2 positions. These positions are based out of Copper Lake / Lincoln Hills schools in Irma, WI.

Position Summary

This position duties include developing and coordinating overall treatment programming for youth; providing direct service and intervention to youth;

preparing accurate reports and coordinating plans and arrangements for referral of youth to mental health facilities; providing consultation, orientation and training to treatment team members and institution staff.

These positions will also be responsible for providing staff directed activities to the youth.

Salary Information

The position is in pay schedule / range 12-63 with a starting annual pay between $47,778 and $88,150 plus excellent benefits.

Pay on appointment for current and former state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the compensation plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Candidates with no prior permanent employment with the State of Wisconsin in the past 5 years may be eligible to accept a sign-on bonus of $2,000.

The sign-on bonus will be paid in two installments : $1,000 on the first paycheck and $1,000 with the paycheck for the pay period in which the employee attains permanent status (usually 1 year).

To receive the bonus, a candidate must sign an agreement indicating they will remain in that position for a year. If the candidate leaves their position prior to completing the one year, they may be required to reimburse the initial payment.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.

S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment.

Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment.

This position will work a flexible schedule which may include periodic evenings and weekends.

There is no remote work for this position.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have :

  • Experience conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing case management.
  • Experience delivering Evidence Based Programming (EBP) to reduce the risk of recidivism to the served population.
  • Experience working and communicating effectively with multiple parties to enhance individual treatment and release outcomes.
