What is the opportunity?

Reporting to the Director, Group Risk Management (GRM) Commercial, you will be mainly responsible to adjudicate commercial credit transaction requests within delegated lending limits using sound judgement and adherence to policy as well as taking a balanced approach to asset growth and portfolio quality.

You will partner with business & commercial markets VPs, sales managers, account managers, in the management of the assigned portfolio.

What will you do?

  • Assess commercial credit submissions between $3MM and $15MM including reviewing exceptions to credit policy and ensuring accuracy of risk assessment.
  • Influence portfolio quality through strategic assessment and management of risk.
  • Identify risk issues and taking proactive action i.e., within designated portfolio by segment.
  • Coach & Counsel Account Managers on risk.
  • Monitor portfolio trends (Business Risk Rating, Delinquencies & Non-Accrual Loans, Watchlist).
  • Stay abreast of Credit Administration & Compliance Trends (Expired Credits, Out of Order Margins / Covenants / Early Warning Signs / Reporting and Security) through enquiry of business partners, recommending course of action on specific accounts and assisting business partners with action to correct any unsatisfactory situations.
  • When applicable, elevate performance of business partners with honest straight talk as a coach and mentor through candid, constructive feedback, recognition of successes based on fact and addressing poor performance as needed.
  • Represent the Bank and Risk Management in marketplace including client visits where appropriate.
  • Deal directly with Commercial Account Managers and Vice Presidents.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have :

  • Previous Business / Commercial / Corporate Banking experience or relevant alternate experience.
  • Strong Risk assessment & analysis skills.
  • Strong listening and negotiating capabilities and effective written communication.
  • In-depth knowledge of Risk Policies, procedures and practices, folios etc.
  • Proficiency in all standard Bank technology and systems.
  • University educated. Post graduate qualifications (CFA, CMA, MBA etc.) or relevant work experience.
