The Opportunity
General Bank of Canada is looking for a permanent, fulltime Business Transformation Analyst Core Banking join as a key contributor with the Banks Data, Technology and Innovation (DTI) team. Consistent with the growth trajectory of the Bank, this is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to contribute to building the Bank of the future with considerable potential for learning, growth, and advancement.
This role supports The Banks evolving need to align operational efficiency and product evolution in the FinTech space. The Business Transformation Analyst will work across various internal teams to identify business inefficiencies and help shape product solutions that deliver tangible results in speed, accuracy, and improved internal and direct and indirect customer experience in General Bank of Canada (GBC) Bank to Business to Consumer (B2B2C) business model.
This role bridges the gap between process optimization and digital product development and also serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for the core banking systems (Portfolio+ and Thought Machine Vault Core), helping ensure that system behavior is understood, evaluated, and incorporated appropriately in process changes, issue investigation, and system updates. The individual should also have a strong understanding of financial services workflows, data compliance and how technology can be leveraged to improve internal operations and external relationships in our B2B2C model.

Position Responsibilities
Business Process Optimization
- Core Banking System Insight : Apply subject matter expertise in the core banking systems to ensure that process mapping, gap analysis, and redesigned workflows accurately reflect system behavior and system constraints.
- Map & Analyze : Lead process discovery and documentation for key workflows (e.g., onboarding, payments processing, risk reviews). Drive the creation and use of clear, reusable templates and documentation standards introduced for process analysis and business case development.
- Spot Opportunities : Identify inefficiencies, compliance friction points, or manual workarounds that could be addressed through technology or enhanced process design.
- Model Improvements : Design improved process flows, create gap analyses, and provide return-on-investment (ROI) impact of proposed changes.
- Support Execution : Work with DTI teams to implement automation or workflow tools that align with proposed improvements.
- Metrics Focus : Prioritize metrics and data-driven decisions to optimize automations and workflows.
- Adoption Focus : Continually deploy techniques to educate and excite business teams on business process improvement, including the creation of training artifacts as needed.
- Bias for Action : Be a strong collaborator that involves the right parties at the appropriate times and can recommend optimal solutions to overcome disagreements, ensuring progress without falling into analysis paralysis.
Technology Product Management
Core Banking System SME Role : Act as the SME for the core banking systems to support system configuration decisions, impact assessments, issue investigation, and validation of updates that may influence core banking functionality.Own Products & Features : Manage product improvements related to internal tooling (operational dashboards, automated workflows, etc.) and selected external-facing features that intersect with business processes.Reporting & Analytics : Manage the requirements for ongoing reporting & analytics related to the technical product and its data, with focus to movement of data to Enterprise Data Lake and oversee the development of business semantic layers.Own Product Configuration Definition : Defining and documenting configuration details associated with core banking systems, document direct system configurations, workflows, operational reporting to meet the changing business needs of the related business partner team(s) (particularly related to new financial product development).Backlog & Roadmap Input : Maintain detailed requirements (epics / stories), prioritize backlog items, and contribute to sprint planning.Business Partner Alignment : Act as the voice of operational teams in product development discussions; ensure compliance and control considerations are embedded into the product lifecycle.Quality & Adoption : Lead and participate in developer-based unit testing as well as User Acceptance Testing (UAT), gather feedback post-launch, and support change adoption for product rollouts. In addition, helping to drive the creation of training materials to help drive adoption of the implemented solution.What You Bring to the Table
Required Qualifications
812 years of total professional experience, with a minimum of 5 years experience in process improvement / operations within a FinTech or financial services context.5+ years direct experience with Core Banking systems, particularly Portfolio+ and / or Thought Machine Vault Core.Prior involvement in regulated environments; experience working with legal, compliance, and risk teams.5+ years experience in using process design, documentation, and re-engineering frameworks / concepts (E.g., Lean Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, etc.) to drive transformation and efficiencyPreferred Qualifications
A university bachelors degree in related discipline, or demonstrated work experience in a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst role. A Diploma in Business Analysis or Process Re-engineering would also be considered.2+ years of experience in technical product management or technical product owner role (can include internal tools).Solid understanding of Agile software development and delivery techniques included Scrum, Kanban, DevOps.Familiar with Agile delivery frameworks and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence).Knowledge of reporting and analytics / business semantic layer creation from Enterprise Data Lake environment.An interest in organizational change management concepts (E.g, ADKAR, Prosci)Position Details
