This role provides strategic architecture leadership across a diverse environment that includes funding programs, applied research, and revenue-generating services. The architect will map business capabilities, analyze system overlap, define future-state architectures, and guide how our technology ecosystem (including Microsoft Azure, M, SaaS platforms, data environments, and AI tools) should evolve to support a modern, scalable, and integrated enterprise. Although the role will not be fully hands-on, candidates with implementation or configuration experience within our technical operating environment will be preferred.

Enterprise Architecture & Capability Mapping

• Develop current-state and future-state enterprise architecture (Conceptual, Logical and Physical) aligned to AI's strategic, business, and divisional plans.
• Map business capabilities across funding, applied research, and revenue generating functions to supporting systems.
• Identify system redundancies, integration gaps, and opportunities for simplification and modernization.

Experience mapping business capabilities or processes to systems

Experience supporting multi-team or multifunction environments (public sector or research experience is an asset)

Working knowledge of cloud and SaaS environments (Microsoft preferred)

Familiarity with Azure architecture, governance, tech stack and integration patterns, as well as Microsoft services (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, security / compliance features)

Awareness of data platforms (, Azure Fabric), BI, and data management and governance practices

Familiarity with AI in enterprise settings, including automation, process optimization, LLMs, and agent-based workflows

General understanding of how networks, data centers, and enterprise components connect— sufficient to assess architectural impacts (deep expertise not required)

Experience with system-to-system integrations, data flows, APIs, ETL / ELT, and evaluating or designing integration patterns across enterprise platforms

Experience reviewing systems for overlaps, redundancies, and optimization opportunities
