Role Responsibilities
The Culture unit assumes a strategic position by facilitating various essential functions within Children and Family Services (CFS).
Firstly, it fosters the growth and enrichment of CFS staff's knowledge, skills, and comprehension of Indigenous cultures, histories, and aspirations through the implementation of the Indigenous Cultural Understanding Framework (ICUF).
This initiative ensures that CFS staff possess a comprehensive understanding of Indigenous peoples and communities, thereby enabling them to integrate Indigenous values, beliefs, and histories into all aspects of ministry work.
Moreover, the unit supports CFS staff in engaging with Indigenous clients, partners, and communities in a culturally sensitive and secure manner, aiming for effective communication and collaboration.
Furthermore, it advocates for the integration of strategies that cater to the needs of Indigenous populations, emphasizing the incorporation of an "Indigenous lens" into various ministry processes.
Additionally, the Culture unit prioritizes strengthening relationships with both internal and external Indigenous community partners.
Within this role, the analyst assumes a critical position in driving ICUF's progress forward, undertaking responsibilities such as evaluating ICUF's effectiveness, conducting research and analysis for the unit, and overseeing contracts for the learning opportunities provided through ICUF.
Through these concerted efforts, the Culture unit contributes significantly to the advancement of cultural understanding, responsiveness, and inclusivity within CFS operations
