About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist works under the supervision of the Manager of Seniors Western Zone and is a member of the interdisciplinary Seniors LINCS team providing service primarily in the community setting.

The Occupational Therapist (OT) works in collaboration with the client, caregivers and family to facilitate, restore and / or maintain the patient / clients optimal level of function in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure.

The OT provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation and follow-up in maximizing the patients function and independence.

In addition, the OT may provide clinical support to Geriatricians and other physicians to support assessment and intervention in the ambulatory care setting.

The OT, in collaboration with the client, establishes individualized treatment plans and goals, independently manages a busy caseload and uses clinical judgement and decision-making skills to prioritize on a daily basis.

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The OT contributes to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines and the assignment of and supervision of work of Rehabilitation Assistants.

The OT is responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and to the professional standards of their licensing body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following :

  • Bachelor's degree or entry level master program in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients / clients, families, other health care providers and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program / facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Permanent Full-time / 100% FTE / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
  • Evening / Weekend / Holidays may be required

Compensation and Benefits

$33.97 - $42.89 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
