To support this, we are building our internal Business Intelligence capability and are seeking a Junior Business Intelligence Analyst to grow with us.
This role is ideal for a recent graduate who is curious about data, enjoys problem‑solving, and wants hands‑on exposure to how information is used to support operations, leadership, and decision‑making in a fast‑paced manufacturing and construction environment.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Junior Business Intelligence Analyst supports the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of reporting and analytics solutions across Steelcon. This is a developmental, entry‑level role designed to build strong technical and business foundations in enterprise Business Intelligence. The successful candidate will work closely with IT team members, business stakeholders, and external consultants to learn how operational and financial data is transformed into meaningful insights. Over time, this role is expected to evolve into a Business Intelligence Specialist position with increased ownership and technical responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
BI Development & Reporting
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Power BI reports and dashboards used across the business.
- Support data modeling and preparation of datasets for reporting and analysis.
- Write and maintain basic SQL queries to extract and analyze data from relational databases.
- Help troubleshoot data issues and support enhancements to existing BI solutions.
- Document report logic, data definitions, and reporting standards.
Business Partnership
Participate in requirements gathering sessions with business users under guidance from senior team members.Support the translation of business questions into clear, data‑driven reports.Assist with user support, training, and report walkthroughs as needed.Learn how different departments use data to support planning, execution, and decision‑making.Support the maintenance of data pipelines and reporting feeds.Learn ETL / ELT concepts, data quality principles, and best practices for analytics environments.Gain exposure to Microsoft BI technologies, including Power BI and Azure‑based data services.Develop an understanding of data governance, security, and access controls.Identify opportunities to improve report clarity, usability, and performance.Build skills and knowledge through on‑the‑job learning and mentorship.Stay current with new features and capabilities in Microsoft BI tools.Take on increasing responsibility as technical and business knowledge grows.Other

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.Entry‑level role; internships, co‑op placements, or academic projects involving data or analytics are considered an asset.Technical Foundations
Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.Exposure to Power BI through school, internships, or personal projects.Basic understanding of reporting, dashboards, and KPIs.Familiarity with Excel and data analysis concepts.Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.Curious, willing to learn, and receptive to coaching and feedback.Clear communicator able to explain data and findings at an appropriate level.Organized, detail‑oriented, and reliable with follow‑through.Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.Introductory knowledge of DAX or data modeling concepts.Awareness of ETL / ELT and data warehousing fundamentals.Experience with Power Automate or Power Apps.Interest in developing into a Business Intelligence or analytics specialist role.Working Conditions
