Job Overview
Burkett Asset Management is seeking a Junior Trader to join its growing investment team. In this role, you will be a member of a collaborative team requiring exceptional analytical skills, proficiency with technology and leadership experience.
The Junior Trader will support the day‑to‑day management of client portfolios, trading, and operations. This is a role designed for individuals who are detail‑oriented, analytically sharp, and committed to delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support core trade activities and account rebalancing, ensuring alignment with the firm’s investment strategy
- Interpret and execute trade instructions from Portfolio Managers and Investment Counsellors
- Order entry for global equity and fixed income securities
- Ensure all activities, trading and analytical are completed within company and regulatory policy
- Support the Portfolio Manager in addressing client needs, analyzing securities, and managing portfolio risk
- Collaborate with operations, compliance, and external advisors to ensure smooth firm operations, including regulatory filings and audits.
- Troubleshoot and resolve custodial and trading queries
- Leverage Broker‑Dealer and / or Investment Management operations expertise to support the rapid growth of Burkett Asset Management. Experience with portfolio management systems is an asset.
- You should understand financial markets, asset management and complex investment strategies. Assist with development, review, and maintenance of processes and procedures on the platforms.
- Manage and participate in ad‑hoc projects as needed.
Job Requirements
Undergraduate degree or relevant work experience in finance, or related fields.Strong skills working with business applications / technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, Bloomberg EMSX, and order / execution management tools.Completion or enrolled in investment industry courses such as, Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH), and / or Trader Training Course (TTC).Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Job Type & Location
