As an Electrical Design Engineer, located in Burlington or Kitchener, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid working arrangement of 2 days minimum per week onsite), you will work on a variety of technical and engineering assignments including design, drafting, and implementation of electrical, instrumentation and controls projects (Capital, Expense, Development) under the guidance of engineers.
What will you do?
Your day to day :
- Design comprehensive control systems, including control cabinet / panel design as well as custom circuit board design for a variety of electro-mechanical systems from the ground up.
- Create detailed schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials in accordance with the WEC Quality Assurance Manual.
- Develop project documentation in accordance with the Westinghouse QAM.
- Develop component specifications and purchasing requests in compliance with the WEC QAM.
- Support the assembly of control systems designed by the controls engineering team.
- Interface with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
- Assist with the development of test procedures for control systems to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Assist with the operation of the final tooling system in the customer facilities.
- Prepare reports, designs, calculations, analyses etc. in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings, or other specifications.
- Conduct tests, gather and analyze information, help interpret findings.
- Familiarity with technical terms or procedures basic to the function in order to communicate effectively with co-workers.
- Attend client’s site to conduct site inspections.
- Review technical documentation and drawings.
- Collaborate globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialists.
- Drive innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems.

- Electrical Engineering Degree.
- 1+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and highly organized.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical.
- Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
- Strong mechanical / electrical aptitude and knowledge.
- Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.
- A background with practical skills developed through jobs, school teams or personal interest are highly valued.
Preferred :
- Application of the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment.
- Experience with software such as Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks.
- Experience interfacing with customer representatives and also providing oversight of vendors.
