Nexus Renewables is a Toronto-based, well-capitalized full-service renewable energy developer and independent power producer, having advanced 500+ MW of solar and energy storage projects across North America to NTP.
The Company is scaling its platform significantly following completion of a material strategic financing.
The Opportunity
We seek an experienced Corporate & Business Development Professional to join a small and close-knit team in a rapidly growing organization.
This is an integral role providing a highly motivated individual with an opportunity for rapid advancement and assumption of increased responsibilities.
The successful candidate will bring a minimum of 5+ years of experience spearheading and supporting commercial development activities for both contracted and merchant solar and energy storage assets in the United Stated and / or Canada for an independent power producer, project developer, or standalone storage owner / operator.

Qualifications :
- University degree in Engineering, Finance, or Business (MBA and / or CFA designation an asset).
- 5+ years of corporate development experience with a North American renewable energy developer, IPP, or standalone storage owner / operator.
Equivalent private equity or investment banking backgrounds (with a strict focus on renewable energy) will also be considered.
- Demonstrable track record of successfully developing and executing growth strategies within the renewable energy sector.
- Deep-seated experience sourcing and structuring renewable energy revenue models (merchant, PPA) and tax equity alternatives.
- Proficiency with project-based private equity and M&A financial models and valuation methodologies.
- Strong commercial negotiation skills and business acumen.
Responsibilities :
- Initiate and support all aspects of commercial due diligence and project financing (debt, tax equity and other) for acquisitions and project development.
- Undertake detailed project financial modelling, including capital structuring and revenue monetization options, to support greenfield origination and M&A efforts from origination through Financial Close.
- Develop and recommend short and medium-term strategies to facilitate the expansion of Nexus’ solar and energy storage footprint across the United States and Canada.
- Create Investment Committee presentation materials for new and existing project jurisdictions, ensuring that critical issues, market drivers, opportunities and risks are fully identified and assessed.
- Distill technical and legal subjects into deliverable commercial applications.
- Leverage and expand relationships with financial partners, other developers, industry associations, local communities, landowners and other stakeholders
Travel : May be required within the U.S. and Canada.
