We are currently seeking a Market Fundamentals Analyst to join ARC’s Financial Risk Management team. This team is responsible for the development of commodity market fundamental views as well as the execution and day-to-day management of ARC’s hedging positions.

The successful candidate will play a major role in forming and disseminating ARC’s commodity price outlook that is used to support commercial and risk management decisions across the organization.

ARC is a leader in Risk Management and crucial to the team’s success is working closely with other groups including but not limited to Marketing, Treasury, Investor Relations, Financial Reporting and Planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop and maintain models that track global and regional energy supply / demand factors. Monitor, evaluate and forecast changes to balances on an ongoing basis.
  • Review research from external sources to supplement internally derived views. Maintain an understanding of the varying assumptions and differences amongst third party views on commodity prices.
  • Form a market view that identifies risks and opportunities to ARC’s commodity price exposures. Communicate outlook to varying internal audiences including treasury, marketing, investor relations and senior management.
  • Use market view to make recommendations for ARC’s hedging program including new positions or restructurings of existing positions.
  • Assist in the execution of ARC’s hedging program, ensuring competitive pricing from counterparties and adherence to ARC’s internal controls.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of market summary reports for weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings as well as special topic reports based on ARC specific, or broader market developments.
  • Leverage existing relationships and develop industry network to further strengthen ARC’s corporate knowledge of market fundamentals, dynamics, and developments.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a related role with direct experience within energy commodity markets.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Economics is preferred, completion or progress towards a CFA designation is an asset.
  • A genuine interest in and strong understanding of the fundamental dynamics that drive commodity prices. Experience in crude oil, condensate or NGL markets would be an asset.
  • Superior finance and analytical skills. A firm understanding of derivatives pricing and hedging structures would be an asset.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex research and data into clear and concise presentations for varying audiences, from peers to executive leaders.

Comfortable making recommendations and defending views.

  • Self-motivated, capable of conducting research on information that can be difficult to find, interpret and distill into a succinct conclusion.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong working knowledge of Bloomberg, Refinitiv, InstaNext, or other ETRM software would be an asset.
