Job Title : Plant Operator

Location : Calgary, AB

Employment Type : Full-time, On-site

Industry : Manufacturing / Industrial Production

Reports To : Plant Manager

Position Summary

We are recruiting a Plant Operator on behalf of our client in the manufacturing sector. The Plant Operator will support daily production activities, operate various machinery, monitor plant equipment, maintain product quality, and ensure safe and efficient operations. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Machine Operation

Operate and monitor production equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Continuously observe machinery to maintain product yield and consistent production flow.
Monitor drying and packaging systems to maximize uptime and efficiency.

Quality Control

Perform visual and physical inspections to ensure product quality standards are met.

Maintain accurate daily production reports (batching, downtime, operator logs, etc.).

Leadership & Team Support

Train production staff on equipment operation and safety procedures.

Guide team members (e.g., packers, forklift operators, general labourers) during daily activities.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment and support shift clean-up procedures.

Safety & Compliance

Follow all workplace safety procedures and participate in safety meetings.

Identify and report hazardous conditions or equipment issues promptly.

Consistently maintain reliable attendance.

Qualifications

Previous experience operating manufacturing or industrial machinery.

Ability to operate equipment such as dryers, mixers, batching systems, packaging lines, or forklifts.

Mechanically inclined with knowledge of basic tools and equipment.

Strong verbal communication skills and ability to coach or train others.

Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.

Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (standing, bending, lifting up to 90 lbs).

Comfortable working in a plant environment (noise, dust, heat, outdoor conditions).

Work Environment

Industrial / plant setting with exposure to loud noise and moving machinery.

May require working in varying weather and temperature conditions.

Use of appropriate PPE is mandatory.
