Cell Test Engineer

About the Role
The North America Battery Test Lab is seeking a Cell Test Engineer to support battery cell-level performance and safety testing for advanced electrified vehicle programs. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the launch and long-term operation of a state-of-the-art battery test laboratory, supporting the development of next-generation electric vehicle technologies.
The position will initially focus on training, documentation, and lab launch activities. As the lab transitions to full operation, responsibilities will shift toward test execution, data analysis, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities – Lab Launch Phase
- Complete required training and comply with all laboratory safety procedures.
- Support test preparation and setup activities.
- Develop and validate test scripts, work procedures, and report templates.
- Support installation and commissioning of battery cell test equipment.
- Coordinate with hardware and software teams to address support needs during lab setup.
Full Lab Operation
Develop and execute battery cell test plans, including performance and safety testing.Monitor ongoing tests and provide timely status updates and intermediate results to stakeholders.Analyze test data and generate high-quality technical reports.Collaborate with automation engineers to verify test scripts prior to execution.Work with data engineers on test data processing, analysis, and visualization.Ensure all testing activities comply with laboratory safety standards and procedures.Support root cause analysis and resolution of test issues.Participate in cell and module engineering meetings as required.Maintain required training certifications and elevate issues as appropriate.Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant engineering or laboratory testing experience.Knowledge of lithium-ion battery chemistry, components, and operating principles.Hands‑on experience with laboratory tools and test instrumentation.Experience setting up, executing, and monitoring tests in accordance with defined procedures.Ability to process, analyze, and interpret large data sets.Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.Strong organizational and time‑management skills.Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Experience in lithium‑ion battery R&D, engineering, or manufacturing environments.Familiarity with current lithium‑ion battery technologies and test methodologies.Experience with battery cyclers, data acquisition systems, and EIS measurements.Experience executing DVP&R test plans.Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 17025 or ISO 9001.Experience working in a structured or regulated laboratory environment.Additional Details
Work Location : 100% onsite in Windsor, Ontario.Travel : No travel required beyond the local testing facility.Driving Requirement : No vehicle operation required for this role.Seniority level
