Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, HR policy implementation, health and safety initiatives, and supporting talent acquisition efforts. The HR Generalist serves as a key point of contact for employees and works to ensure a safe, inclusive, and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

1.      Employee Relations

  • Serve as a resource for employees and managers by addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Collect and analyze employee feedback to improve employee retention.

2.      HR Compliance and Policies

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employee records are up-to-date in accordance with legal requirements and internal standards.
  • Conduct regular audits of HR practices to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • 3.      Payroll and Benefits Administration

  • Oversee and provide back-up coverage for payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with the payroll administrator to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with payroll regulations.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, ensuring resources are accurate and up to date.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related questions and concerns.
  • 4.      Health and Safety

  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety policies and programs in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Investigate workplace incidents or accidents, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of workplace incidents, safety audits, and compliance reports.
  • Follow up on reports and action any items as needed.
  • Collaborate with leadership to foster a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Manage any workplace injuries striving to minimize costs, while ensuring a safe and timely return to work.
  • Organize safety training sessions and ensure compliance with safety certifications.
  • 5.      HR Operations and Reporting

  • Maintain and update employee records in HRIS systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Generate HR reports and analytics to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Assist in ensuring a streamlined onboarding and offboarding process.
  • 6.      Performance Management

  • Assist in the coordination of performance evaluation processes.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on performance improvement plans.
  • Support the development of strategies for recognizing and rewarding employee contributions.
  • 7.      Training and Development

  • Support the planning and execution of compliance and professional development training programs.
  • Monitor and maintain employee training records.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend relevant training opportunities.
  • 8.      Talent Acquisition Support

  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition Specialist to support recruitment efforts as needed.
  • Assist with onboarding process, ensuring new hires have a positive start.
  • Requirements

    1.      Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CHRP designation or working towards it.
  • 3+ years of experience in an HR role, preferably as a Generalist.
  • 2.      Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, health and safety regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and utilizing AI tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Health and Safety certifications are an asset.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience fostering a culture of inclusion and employee engagement.
  • Starting salary range : $70,000-$80,000
