This Opportunity

Our new Hamilton office is seeking an Electrical Project Manager . You’re all about prioritization. While everyone else is focused on their individual tasks, you’ve got an eye on the larger goals, and have a detailed road map for how to meet those goals. What You’ll Do

  • Prepare, or assist Principal-in-charge with the development of all system engineering concepts (e.g. design brief) and concept report.
  • Prepare all calculations and select all equipment. May assign tasks to designer and BIM Technician where appropriate
  • Perform / arrange reviews of existing installation and manage the impact on the project.
  • Ensure shop drawing review process takes place within project timelines.
  • Respond to both technical and financial queries related to the project.
  • Review all deliverables for the project including reports, calculations, drawings, or / and specifications. Review for completeness and accuracy at various stages of development and as defined by S+A total quality management
  • Coordinate all documents with the internal / external project team (architect, interior designer, and other disciplines).
  • Communicate all requirements to project teams, owner, and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Fully understands Codes and Standards relevant for the project.
  • Ensure tasks are completed both accurately and with the assigned hours / fee.
  • Ensure the internal project team’s coordination processes with other disciplines are complete.
  • Liaise with external consultants, vendors as required to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Promote and enforce company standards for project administration, documentation and processes.
  • Act as contract administrator for designated projects, ensuring timely completion of all activities for project, where needed by Principal in charge
  • Prepare all change notices or reviews change notices issued by contract administration team.
  • Coordinate with the contract administration team regarding drawing reviews, proper set up of contract administration process and site activities
  • Review and manage the design in terms of construction budgets.
  • Understand, recommend and apply construction and / or project procurement methodologies to projects
  • Advise Principal-in-charge or AP advised of all changes in scope of work and prepares amendments to the contract for review and submission to client.
  • Prepare and continually monitor a schedule of tasks required to complete the project including bill-able hours and critical data required for performance.
  • Support accounts receivable process.
  • Organize and attends meetings including client meetings.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to client / owner.
  • Who You Are

  • 8 to 10 years of project engineering experience in the field of electrical building services with at least 3 years functioning at a PM level.
  • Strong electrical design / capabilities and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledgeable about the provincial building code, electrical code, CSA, ULC, IEEE, IES and NFPA standards
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, methods and standards.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario. A senior C.E.T. with equivalent experience and abilities will also be considered.
  • LEED Accreditation / Experience implementing sustainable design (LEED or Net-zero projects) is an asset.
  • Able to handle multiple projects and clients.
  • Strong experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projects.
  • Sound communication skills, demonstrated through client and staff relations.
  • Demonstrates initiative and practical problem solving.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
