Overview
McElhanney is seeking a Construction Inspector for the Municipal Division in the Lower Mainland. The role focuses on on-site inspection of municipal roadwork and utility projects, ensuring quality, safety, and alignment with project specifications and schedules.
What You’ll Do
- Provide on-site contractor inspection for municipal roadwork and utility projects, monitor quality and progress, and prepare daily inspection reports.
- Maintain inventories of bid item quantities and assist with payment authorizations.
- Identify field and design issues, facilitate corrective measures, and perform constructability reviews.
- Ensure the team is motivated and on track, project deadlines are met within budget, and quality meets or exceeds client expectations.
- Learn and understand the construction process, including the specifications and requirements of the work being inspected.
- Understand hazards and safe work procedures for each task and inspection location.
What You’ll Bring
1-5 years of experience with municipal and transportation construction projects; consulting experience is an asset.Previous field or construction-related experience as assistant supervisor / inspector is an asset.Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field is required.Flexibility in work schedule, especially during the busy inspection season.Ability to interpret contracts, drawings, and specifications and compare them with construction in progress; detect faulty materials / workmanship and suggest remedies.Exceptional organization and follow-up skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Valid Class 5 driver’s license.What Can We Offer You
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000 per annum. McElhanney offers compensation commensurate with education, experience, skills, and qualifications. Base salary is representative of the required qualifications; final offer based on experience.
