About the Nisga'a Nation
Located on BC's rugged northwest coast, 100-150 km north of Terrace, Nisga'a Lands are blessed with soaring mountains, dramatic lava beds, picturesque fjords, and thriving rivers and streams, complemented by our rich cultural traditions. For visitors and residents, there is a wide variety of activities to enjoy, including fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ATVing, and much more!
The Nisga'a Lisims Government (NLG) building opened its doors in 2000. It has since been responsible for a vital set of functions carried out under various departments including Child & Family Services, Finance, Programs & Services, Fisheries & Wildlife, Lands & Resources, Capital, Housing & Facilities Operations, and Enforcement & Emergency Services, all which contribute to the development of the surrounding area. NLG\'s directives are governed under Nisga’a laws as well as federal and provincial laws.

About the Opportunity
NLG is looking for a full-time Museum Director-Curator based in Laxgalts\'ap, BC .
Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Nisga’a Museum Advisory Committee, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of museum operations, including curatorial, collections, exhibitions, programming, and administration. You will also lead efforts in fundraising, grant procurement, and succession planning to support the museum’s long-term sustainability.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for managing museum operations, directing exhibition and collections development, overseeing repatriation initiatives, and driving fundraising and marketing efforts.

About You
To qualify, you will need a university degree in Education, Museum Studies, History, Visual Arts , or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in a museum, art gallery, or cultural centre . While ideally you will have 2+ years at the curator or director level , your enthusiasm, cultural sensitivity , and genuine interest in the museum’s purpose and the community it serves are of utmost importance.
