Summary :

This Group Director Legal / Market Head of Legal will report directly to the Global Head of Legal Business and Global Head of Legal Corporate.

You will be part of our Global Legal Function and the Global Legal Management Team. Global Legal is a centralised global function which delivers efficient high-quality legal solutions and provides assurance on the oversight and control of legal risks throughout TMF Group.

We are developing from a classic service delivery model to partnering with the business, supporting, and ensuring long-term continuity and compliance with local laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in relevant local board, committee, market management and regional management meetings, advising on legal matters.
  • Actively participate in Global Legal Management Team and global and regional Business Legal meetings.
  • Ensure alignment of legal budgeting matters in close collaboration with finance, market and regional management and Global Heads of Legal.
  • Update Group Legal, market and regional management on legal developments.
  • Work with the market and regional management in operationalizing and embedding effective controls and practices.
  • Implement and monitor the adherence to global legal policies, procedures, standards, and local applicable legal requirements.
  • Proactively advise on and support the market and regional management with the following legal topics : data privacy, cosec, local client contracting, strategic regulatory advice, procurement, legal entity management, various registrations, intercompany agreements, HR support and audit finding remediation.
  • Responsible for advising on correspondence with (regulatory) authorities and escalate to Group Legal and / or market and regional management when necessary.
  • Work with the data privacy team to ensure that the markets in the region establish adequate governance on data processing activities prevent / handle data breaches appropriately to prevent / mitigate the legal risk.
  • Work with the Group Corporate & Claims to ensure timely reporting of legal cases and control of related external spend.
  • Work with Group Global Client Contracting to ensure the implementation of local service agreement templates and standards in the markets and timely escalations in accordance with the applicable approval matrix.
  • Ensure delivery of Global Legal priorities & objectives in the markets through operationalising strategy, resolving bottlenecks, and reporting accurately on a quarterly basis.

Qualifications :

  • A qualified lawyer with at least 10-12 years of legal work experience, preferably both in-house and in a law firm.
  • Have knowledge of corporate law and contracting law.
  • Have affinity with financial and administrative services.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Experienced people / team manager.
  • With demonstrated experience in and capability of working collaboratively across departments, time zones and cultures.
  • Understand the business needs and the importance of legal risk management; able to integrate legal risk management and legal service delivery smoothly in daily legal activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to reach consensus with diverse and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • A leader and a team player ambitious, proactive, solution-oriented, persuasive, with a hands-on mentality.
  • Have strong analytical skills and able to quickly identify the interests involved in a case, while constructively safeguarding and representing the interests of the market.
  • Able to make trusted judgement calls and possess a professional and independent decision-making ability.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills.
  • Organised; able to work on diverse large workload and handle competing priorities.
  • Able to articulate challenging strategic visions and increase engagement to achieve targets.
